The Story Behind MaxScheduler

Early 1990s — The Beginning

Feliks Gadzinski was a systems consultant at a new 1,000,000 sq. ft. warehouse that was opening. A logistics consultant mentioned that the facility was lacking software to manage the flow of goods through 25 conveyor lanes in the shipping area. Feliks picked up on the opportunity, submitted a proposal, and implemented the first version of what he called ScheduleMate.

ScheduleMate was a graphical software tool that helped a shipping scheduler manage the outbound flow of goods. The key feature that made it a success was that schedule information was displayed graphically, and the schedule could be adjusted using a mouse to drag and drop shipments. This was quite unique for its time.

1990s–2000s — Growth & Expansion

ScheduleMate was soon implemented in similar warehouse facilities. Its feature set grew and the software matured over 15 years. In many cases, ScheduleMate automatically generated an optimized schedule that could be further fine-tuned by the scheduler. In typical scenarios, ScheduleMate would be managing the flow of 50,000 cartons in a single day.

Over the years, Feliks's company Minidata was often invited to smaller facilities having scheduling issues — companies using hand-written schedules, complex spreadsheets, or piles of paper. Some had enterprise-level software with weak scheduling components. These companies needed a simple, graphical scheduler that ScheduleMate — as customized enterprise software — wasn't well suited to provide.

2004 — MaxScheduler is Born

Minidata created a new version of ScheduleMate better suited for businesses looking for simpler scheduling solutions. The new version, called Max Scheduler, is scheduling software suited for manufacturing and warehousing. Job information can be imported and a schedule created through mouse drag and drop. Schedules can be published as web pages to share information with personnel.
